William & Mary (1688-1694)
Silver Halfcrown
1689, first conjoined laureate busts right, rev. first crowned shield, caul and interior frosted, pearls, edge PRIMO, (SCBC 3434, ESC 826)
Minor tin flecks to obverse, attractively toned and extremely fine, certified and graded by NGC as AU 58
Collecting hints:
William and Mary halfcrowns are fairly common but are rare in high grade. The first issue was struck in high relief and so any wear of weakness of strike results in considerable loss of detail. Keen collectors may wish to assemble the reverse varieties.
