House of Hanover | Milled Silver

George I (1714-1727)
Silver Halfcrown
1720/17, laureate bust right, rev. crowned cruciform shields, roses and plumes in angles, (SCBC 3642, ESC.1555)
Some light tin flecks, nicely toned and with good details but with the hair on the highest points of the portrait sometime professionally re-engraved, surprisingly previously slabbed as AU55
Collecting hints:
George I halfcrowns are generally scarce and suffer from problems such as tin flecking, striking weakness and adjustment marks. Lower grade examples are still reasonably attractive and may be sufficient for many, but the finer details may only be appreciated on coins in higher grade
