House of Stuart | Milled Silver

Charles II (1660-1685)
Silver Halfcrown
Fourth draped bust, 1679 (S.3367, ESC. 481/481A)
'I' of GRATIA clearly visible as a second 'T' but not sharp. In our opinion not a true 'GRATTA error' coin but one struck from the modified GRATTA error obverse die and therefore still very rare and interesting. Must be one of the best examples of the type with a deep even tone, good VF to nearly EF.
