Civil War issues, Pontefract besieged, 1648-1649 in the name of Charles II
Struck after the execution of Charles I, January 30 - March 1649, in name of Charles II, castle with cannon protruding to right, flag flying above dividing pc (Pontefract Castle), to left obs, carolvs:secvundvs:1648, letter n inverted, rev. dum:spiro:spero, crowned cr, 4.56g (Brooker 1234; N.2646; S.3150). Very neatly plugged to right of cr otherwise VF and rare with a good provenance.
