House of Tudor | Hammered Silver

Philip & Mary (1554-1558)
Silver Shilling
1555, facing busts, crown and date above, rev. crowned or arms, crown above dividing date, (SCBC 2501, N.1968)
A superior example with two good portraits, grey cabinet tone and good very fine, certified and graded by NGC as XF 45
Collecting hints:
This is quite a tricky coin to find in attractive problem free condition. Collectors should look for two good portraits but very often one of them is weakly struck, scratched or damaged. A well struck evenly worn problem free coin is often more attractive than a technically higher grade coin with parts weakly struck up
