Oxford, 1643/2
Shrewsbury horseman trampling over arms, plume behind, cannon amongst arms, mm. plume/pellets, rev. declaration between two lines, three Oxford plumes and mark of value above, date below, 1643/2, (S.2940, N.2398, c.f. Brooker 863A). A good example with clean fields and none of the problems usually associated with these pieces, very fine, the over-date very rare.
The largest and heaviest coin ever produced for circulation in England.
