Silver Pattern Testoon or Counter
Undated, c.1553
Similar in style to type II testoon, large M crowned, crowned thistle each side, wireline inner circle, rev. crowned shield, no cross potent, wireline inner circle, legends as testoon but undated, 3.90g. Good very fine and extremely rare.
An identical type was sold at the R.W.Cochran-Patrick sale, Sotheby, 8th November 1949.
