Late Anglo-Saxon | Hammered Silver

Aethelred II (978-1016)
Silver Penny
Last Small Cross type, London mint
Obv. +ÆÐERLD REX ANGL, Rev. +ÆLFGED ON LVNDDE, 1.24g (S.1154, N.777). Three light peck marks to reverse, bright good VF.
The EMC and SCBI lists only two coins of this type from this moneyer. One of these appears to be from a reverse die duplicate of this example (SCBI 7 - Copenhagen: 642). A curious and probably blundered spelling of the King's name.
