House of Stuart | Hammered Gold

Charles I (1625-1649)
Gold Unite
Oxford, 1644 OX
King holding sword and and olive branch, branch curves to left, rev. declaration in three lines on a continuous scroll, date and OX below, 8.86g, (S.2735, N.2389, c.f. Brooker 854 - same dies, Beresford-Jones dies -/18). Very fine and better.
Note:
This coin is struck from a rare obverse die that was unknown to Beresford-Jones in his article (BNJ XXVIII, 1957). Brooker obtained an example (854) and Beresford-Jones subsequently acquired one.
