House of Stuart | Milled Silver

Charles II (1660-1685)
Silver Halfcrown
1671, third laureate but var. right, rev. crowned cruciform shields, interlinked C's in angles, edge V. TERTIO, (SCBC 3366, ESC 457)
Even grey tone, very fine
Collecting hints:
Halfcrowns of Charles II are often not fully struck up on the highest points of the bust. Those of the third bust and third bust variety and struck in higher relief than those of the fourth bust so a partially worn coin will retain responable details except in the centre of the obverse; top grade coins are rare and expensive therefore. Regardless of grade, collectors should seek coins with a decent strike and as problem free as possible.
