House of Stuart | Hammered Silver

Charles I (1625-1649)
Silver Sixpence
Tower mint
Group 3a, larger crowned bust left, mark of value behind, rev. oval shield, mm. tun, 3.41g, (SCBC 2813,N. 2241). Evenly struck with a decent portrait, very fine
Collecting hints:
Charles I Tower mint sixpence are surprisingly scarce, at least in comparison to the Tower shillings. The quality of manufacture was generally fairly poor and coins are often on irregular flans and are weakly struck in parts. Collectors should look for a clear portrait, and those coins which are full round and well struck will command high prices.
