Civil War issues, Pontefract besieged, 1648-1649 in the name of Charles II
Struck after the execution of Charles I, January 30 - March 1649, in name of Charles II, castle with cannon protruding to right, flag flying above dividing PC (Pontefract Castle), to left OBS, carolvs:secvundvs:1648, letter N inverted, rev. DVM:SPIRO:SPERO, crowned CR, 4.49g (S.3150, N.2646, Brooker 1234). Well struck and about extremely fine, a superb piece with a good provenance.
